*THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CAMP PROCEDURES SO PLEASE READ CAREFULLY*

We are beyond excited to kick off our summer camp season with your children this week! We have a lot of great activities planned and hope you all are pumped. Whether you have been to camp with us before, or if this is your first time, we have made some changes to how we are going to operate the camp. Below is a list of things that your child will need to bring as well as an overview of the procedure we will be following.

THINGS TO BRING WITH YOUR CHILD:

  • Yoursportspass.com Membership (this will be used to scan your children IN & OUT of camp)
  • Packed Lunch
  • Water bottle(s)
  • Backpack to keep all their items
  • Any medications needed
  • Sunscreen
  • Athletic clothes/shoes (possible extra set of clothes for emergencies)
  • Money (if you want your child to purchase extra snacks/drinks)

YOURSPORTSPASS.COM MEMBERSHIP – our facility is a MEMBERSHIP ONLY facility. For camps, your children will all need a membership. Even if they are siblings they will still need separate memberships. These will be used to scan your child IN & OUT of camp each day to ensure that they are being picked up by one of their parents/guardians.

HOW TO GET A MEMBERSHIP – Go to YOURSPORTSPASS.COM and make an account under your name. You will need to verify your email address before you can make the membership. Once verified, log back into your account and click the GREEN “Create Membership” button on the bottom right. Fill out all the necessary information and pick your membership option. We have 1-day, 3-month, and full-year options open every day. WE WILL ALSO HAVE A 1-WEEK option available starting Sunday Mornings through 10am Monday. Once created you will need to log back into your account on a MOBILE DEVICE to access your QR code that we will use to scan your child in with. If you have any trouble getting access to your code we are more than happy to help you all when you arrive in the morning.

COVID PROCEDURES –  Children are not required to be in a mask this summer. We will be doing frequent hand washing and sanitizing of all equipment.  We ask that if your child shows any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 that you keep them home, as well as report this to us immediately. Should any cases of COVID-19 arise, we will be using contact tracing to let families potentially involved know. By sending your child to summer camp, you acknowledge all risks associated with COVID-19.

LUNCH & SNACKS – All children attending camp for half or full days will be having lunch at 11:45am. WE ARE A NUT-FREE FACILITY. Please send your child with a packed lunch and drinks. Children will not be permitted to share lunches. All children who are full-day campers will receive a drink and a snack at 3pm. We ask that you please send your child with plenty of drinks (especially water), as they will get very thirsty during the summer, as well as any snacks that they might want in addition.

SNACKS FOR PURCHASE – During Lunch and Snack time children will be able to purchase snacks, and ice pops from our concession stand. Children are welcome to bring money with them and keep it in their bag, or we can hold it for them at the front desk.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES – Each day all Multi-Sport Campers will be participating in outside activities throughout the day. Please bring your child to camp wearing sunscreen. All outside activities run 45 minutes (time may be shortened depending on weather). On certain days, we will also be running water activities. We ask that you please send your child a change of clothes in their bag each day.

CAMPER GROUPS – Typically we will split the camp into 3 groups based on age. This allows for all children to play with others on their skill level. If for any reason you need your children to stick together (siblings, friends, etc.), please let us know in advance and we will do our best to make it happen.

BULLYING/MISBEHAVIOR – we have a strong policy against bullying inside our facility and camps. We understand that your children are eager to run around and have fun but want to ensure that fun is for ALL. Each day our coaches will address the rules on this with the campers and we ask for you all to remind your children of the importance of being respectful and kind to others so we can avoid any potential conflicts. With any bullying case, management will take over and in severe cases, expulsion from our camps is an option.

ELECTRONICS – we understand that in today’s world everyone has a device with them at all times but we ask that you leave any NON-ESSENTIAL DEVICES (phone for emergencies) at home. This is a sports camp after all and we want to give your children the best experience possible, which can become difficult when the kids are stuck behind the screen. We will have plenty of movie days and activities to change up the schedule so there should not be a reason for the devices to be used anyways.

If you have any questions feel free to call our facility at (703) 430-9966 or email jgelber@sportsplexmg.com.

First Step Basketball Academy was established in 1999, at the Rockville Sportsplex in Maryland. Since that time, the academy has grown to Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Our academy has professional coaches that will teach all the fundamentals of the game to your child at any level. We teach the fundamentals of the game but stress decision making and problem-solving on the court in a practice environment. Our professional coaches are experienced with the recreational, travel and the collegiate player. We emphasize rigorous training but we never forget that basketball should be played only because it is fun.

A HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL ACADEMY WITH 20 YEARS BEHIND IT

When choosing a youth basketball academy or sporting programs for your child, it’s imperative that you select a course you can trust. The First Step Basketball Academy was established in 1999, helping children throughout Falls Church, Reston, Leesburg, VA, and the surrounding areas discover the love of kids basketball with fun programs and competitive leagues.

Our academy has professional coaches that will teach all the fundamentals of the game to your child at any level. We teach the fundamentals of the game but stress decision making and problem-solving on the court in a practice environment. Our professional coaches are experienced with the recreational, travel and the collegiate player. We emphasize rigorous training, but we never forget that basketball should be played only because it is fun.

When coupled with our incredible on-site courts and facilities, kids basketball in Ashburn, VA, and the local area has never been better for players or parents alike.

KIDS BASKETBALL FOR PLAYERS OF ALL AGES

One thing that separates the First Steps Basketball Academy from other youth basketball programs is that our trained professionals appreciate that there cannot be one-size fits all solution. While older kids benefit from competitive leagues and matches, the younger players are best suited to training games that focus on those basic skills. Moreover, it’s important for players to experience different positions to work out their strengths and weaknesses on the court.

At Michael & Son SportsPlex at Dulles, the academy runs several different kids basketball courses for players of different ages and abilities. Each of the youth basketball programs is designed and tailored to the needs of the individual group, ensuring that the fun and progress are each at the highest possible level.

Individual courses include:

  • Little Hoopstars (4-6yrs)
  • Little Hands and Feet (4-6yrs)
  • Shining Hoopstars (8-9yrs)
  • Rising Hoopstars (6-8yrs)
  • Premier Steps (9-12yrs)

So, there’s youth basketball for kids of all ages and abilities throughout Sterling, VA, Ashburn VA, Falls Church, Reston, Leesburg, VA, etc.

Courses are priced just $120 for 6 weeks, making them among the most affordable sporting courses too. For more information on individual courses, click the appropriate links below.

Our multi-sports camps are the perfect place for youngster across Sterling, VA, Ashburn, VA, Leesburg, VA, Falls Church, and Reston to build on existing friendships and create new ones in the process.

The sentiments of being more than a game are underlined by the fact we offer plenty of activities other than just the sports. We also provice snacks to full-day campers. Likewise, participants are given a t-shirt to remember their experience while the best players will win prizes too.
